You can make your holiday lawn decoration as creative and as inspiring as they can be. In the past, Christmas decorations only comprise of a few light strands on the pine trees. However, with the current decorative trends, a lot of festive and extraordinary outdoor holiday lawn decoration is made available. A gingerbread house, for example, is easy to make. It might seem complicated, but creating one for outdoor decoration is not as complicated as you initially think it is. Listed below are the steps on how to build a large-scale gingerbread house for your holiday lawn decoration.
- Buy a kid’s play tent shaped like a house. These tents are available in many department stores and toy shops. Bear in mind that the design isn’t such a big deal as long as the shape is similar to that of a house.
- To start creating your gingerbread house holiday lawn decoration, assemble your purchased tent on your front lawn. Place it on top of newspaper layers or tarpaulin.
- Using a light-brown shade of spray paint, color the tent’s sides, front and back.
- Set the tent aside, allowing some time to dry. Check the glue’s bottle for directions.
- Apply multiple paint coats. Set enough time between coatings for the paint to get dry. Continue the painting process until you see the tent achieving an even color, showing none of its original design.
- Measure the playhouse roof’s width and length. Put an additional 6 inches for every width and length.
- Use this measurement to make a white swath of craft batting. If needed, staple the small batting pieces together. This will be utilized to create a frosting roof.
- Get 18 brightly-colored plastic bowls. These will serve as the gumdrop accents of your gingerbread house. Squeeze a liberal quantity of craft glue to each bowl’s upper lips. Overturn each bowl and put them at the top of the batting sheet using a regular pattern.
- Give the bowls some time to get dry. Check the glue’s bottle for directions.
- Using craft glue, cover the roof of the playhouse. You can either paint the glue on using a brush or squeeze it directly out from its bottle.
- Place the craft batting on the roof’s top. Allow it to dangle on every side over the edge.
- For the final step of the gingerbread house holiday lawn decoration, instead of using paint, color and paint the door and window outlines using a liberal quantity of craft glue. Attach a lot of white stuffing to the outlines. Give them enough time to dry. These stuffing will serve as a drawn-in frosting.
- You can always glue-in as many colored bowls to your gingerbread house if you want to.
